Travel Essentials

travel fashionHave you ever heard of the guy who travels with no socks or the girl with one pair of “panties” and washes them in the sink nightly.  This is definitely not my travel style.

What are your travel essentials and what is the magic formula for a perfect trip?  Some travelers have this down to an exact science with planned outfits per day. I usually pack a bunch of random items of clothing and then mid trip I realize this is not the best way to do it. I can’t seem to learn- I can’t even chalk it up to be a rookie.

I have tried to pack outfits but I can honestly admit at the last minute the random items get thrown into my luggage based on impulse and the multiple “what if” scenarios I create in my mind.

This results in me often packing way too much of the wrong stuff and then I have to unload along the way. I’ve left travel books in Australia, boots in London, tee shirts in Italy, magazines in Amsterdam (The list goes on)…All things I thought I needed and realized they were too heavy to cart around in my luggage.

Have you ever left items in other countries/cities? Or to make last minute purchases because you are a shoddy packer?  What is your secret?  Please share your wisdom.

Hmmm…I wonder how my boots are doing?

About the Author

I don't travel to escape I travel to self discover. To see different parts of the world to build my personal tool kit. I enjoy the path less travelled to truly learn about the traditions and nuances of my fellow citizens of this great world. Born and raised in Toronto of Trinidadian descent I never forget my roots and as much as I love leaving on that jet plane I always find satisfaction in coming home to my great city to share the tales of my great adventures with my friends and family.
