Chi Town

Chi Town!

5 friends embarked on a weekend away to let loose and have some fun. I have so many fond memories of this weekend. I hope you get a giggle and a little inspiration to visit this great city. Chicago is a very friendly walkable city. A must do and will love.

Here goes …

1. Lunch at Ralph Lauren – booked way in advance using Open Table. Great Food. Great cocktails and 2 or more great bottles of wine. Best tomato bisque.

2. Drunk shopping at Barney’s. Dangerous but one hell of a great fashion show 🙂

3. R and R – at Bliss Spa at the W Hotel. Word to the wise do not make appointments for the spa when intoxicated after lunch.

4. Dinner at Sushi Samba. Great music. Great vibe. Very cute bartenders. The Adam Levine look-a-like bartender was our favourite. We were celebrating a friends divorce he asked who’s getting divorced and I never saw 5 hands raise so fast “I am”.

5. Architectural boat tour. A must and a highlight. A wonderful way to learn about the city. Appreciate the architecture and the great influences on this brilliant skyline.

6. Dinner at Girl and the Goat. Amazing. Nuff said. Mouth watering. Book in advance using Open Table.

7. 5 of us in a cab (tight fit) singing Gloria 🙂 fond personal memory.

8. Walking into the W hotel to check in and being pleasantly surprised it was Fleet week and the multitudes of men in uniform everywhere. Visual overload! Drinks daily and nightly at the hotel bar. Many friends made.

9. Raiding the cleaning service cart for Bliss toiletries. My whole family got a full set. Love these products.

10. Chicago Museum of Art. Ferris Bueller jokes and appreciating all of the beauty housed under this one roof.

10. Cloud Gate – The “bean” in Millennium Park. Beautiful from all angles. This will appeal to the travel creatives in all of us to take some unique and interesting photos.

11. Garrett’s popcorn. Who would have ever thought cheese and carmel corn paired so nicely. Drool.

12. Delicious Deep Dish Pizza. Too many great places to pick from and well worth the wait. I finally understand the hype!

The bolds were my highlights – literally. What did I miss?

About the Author

I don't travel to escape I travel to self discover. To see different parts of the world to build my personal tool kit. I enjoy the path less travelled to truly learn about the traditions and nuances of my fellow citizens of this great world. Born and raised in Toronto of Trinidadian descent I never forget my roots and as much as I love leaving on that jet plane I always find satisfaction in coming home to my great city to share the tales of my great adventures with my friends and family.
