Five Ways to Convince Your “Not-So-Convincible” Friends to Travel this summer

Be Convincing!

We all know that convincing our friends to take a well needed trip is like pulling teeth, let alone organizing it. Here are 5 ways to help convince your friends that their presence is well needed in a 2013 trip.

1. Provide dates & costs: This is a two in one, but they coincide. This is the most important step in convincing you friend(s) to travel with you. Give them a solid 6-12 months before departure date. Knowing this, they will actually take you serious. Also, make sure to have done your research in cost on flight(if flights are needed) and or hotel(hospitality) and anything else. The dates will give your friend (and yourself) time to save up and get your money organized for the trip. A solid plan is a convincing plan.

2. Get into the trip details: Yes, convincing a friend to go on a trip that will hit their pockets financially will need a full fledged agenda.  You cant just say “lets go to the Bahamas and sit on the beach for a week”.. for some that may just work, but for many you need more ammo. Explain why it’s important for you all to go on this trip, the things that you plan to see and places you will go. However, be careful not to overdo it with activities, because remember “leisure” does mean leisure.

3. Highlight all the FREE stuff: If you have to fly to another country and have somewhere to stay for free then make sure to highlight this! Highlight that the beach or activities are inches from your door step so there will be no transportation costs..

4. Talk FOOD, the secret weapon: Who can resist local cuisine? Plan on going somewhere where the culture prides itself of food! If these are your friends, then you can definitely connect certain dishes to their liking.

5.  Safety: Depending on where you are going safety is always not %100 guaranteed. Usually, many people will already be convinced with the 4 steps above, but if they have any other concern it will be about their safety. A few minutes of added research will give you an idea how safe you guys will be.

That is it really. The 5 steps above should help your hard working friend(s) play hard and take a well need trip. Remember, to travel is to invest in ones life.
