A\u00a0speakeasy<\/b>, also called a\u00a0blind pig<\/b>\u00a0or\u00a0blind tiger<\/b>, is an establishment that illegally sells\u00a0alcoholic beverages. Such establishments came into prominence in the United States during the period known as\u00a0Prohibition\u00a0(1920\u20131933, longer in some states). During this time, the sale, manufacture, and transportation (bootlegging) of alcoholic beverages was illegal throughout the United States.<\/p>\n
